Lauren, Lately

A little unfiltered, always unfolding

About

I’ve rewritten this page in my head about twelve times, which is probably a pretty accurate introduction to me.

I’m Lauren. I’m thirty-something, raising two kids, and attempting to make sense of life in real time. I’ve spent enough years thinking I’d eventually reach some magical point where everything made sense, only to realize I’m pretty sure everyone is just making it up as they go.

So, this is me making it up as I go.

Lauren, Lately is where I write about the things I’m actually living through—motherhood, love, starting over, getting older, figuring out who I am outside of everyone who needs something from me, places I want to see, clothes I probably didn’t need to buy, and the questionable decisions that usually make better stories later.

I’m not particularly interested in pretending I have everything figured out. I don’t. I’m also not convinced everything happens for a reason. Sometimes things happen because life is weird, people make bad decisions, timing is terrible, or you ignored a red flag that was practically directing traffic.

But I’m also annoyingly hopeful.

I still think you can wake up one day and decide you want your life to look different. I think people can surprise you. I think you can start over as many times as you need to. I think there are versions of ourselves we haven’t even met yet. And despite all available evidence, I still think life has a way of working itself out.

Maybe not the way we planned. But then again, most of my plans haven’t exactly gone according to plan.

So that’s what this is.

Not advice from someone who has life figured out. Not a highlight reel. Just life as it looks from where I’m standing—occasionally beautiful, occasionally a complete shitshow, and always unfolding.

Welcome to Lauren, Lately.

I’m Lauren

Thirty-something, raising two kids and attempting to make sense of life in real time. This is where I write about love, motherhood, style, travel, starting over, and the questionable decisions that make good stories later. I’m not convinced everything happens for a reason, but I do think most things are worth writing about.
